Earlier this month, seeing I had a camera in hand, Julia asked for a photo!
She doesn't want it in her gallery of photos:
"I was slouching! I didn't have lipstick! My hair isn't styled!"
But she was agreeable to sharing it here. I like her smile in this one.

New Tapestry Begun!

Back in 2023, I did a four inch wide version of this.
And now it will become a large stained glass window tapestry!


The pendant was made in Egypt...

The idea came to me suddenly for this piece. I had so many design requirements. I wanted a stained glass effect as I have in last year's "Stained Glass Window Mandala". I wanted a round top to echo both of my two previous mandalas. And I wanted a square bottom. I looked at so many images of stained glass windows. I looked at other artists' tapestry patterns. I felt so dry. Then this piece appeared in my mind, all finished. I wasted no time making a sketch.

I'm really excited to do this one.

Two Flowers Done!

I decided to go with purple flowers rather than blue and turquoise flowers.
These colors seem more "fragrant" to me.
Colors (DMC):
Tiny centers: 208 & 3837
Smaller petals: 208 & 158
Larger petals: 208 & 3807
Bud bottoms: 158 & 791
Jags: 825

Color Choices

The large bud on the right still has my original color choices.
But as I filled in the other side, it became apparent these wouldn't work.

I kept the 791 and 820 of the small portion, but the middle value blueish purple was too dark in relation to the dark purplish blue. And the light bud tip was too gray and wouldn't be enough contrast with the sky.


Turning the scan grayscale, we see there is a nice progression from dark to light.
Colors (DMC):
Cap: 791 & 820
Middle Petals:158 & 3807 (Had been just 158)
Bud tip: 208 & 3807 (Had been 208 and 806)

More Color Choices

An easier way to determine color choices!


Progress so far...
I pretty much followed the digital colors, except center bottom section is more purple.
