Red Eyes?

''Sweet Rapture,'' thought Kaaldar. ''But it would be sweeter if my skin did not itch.'' With that thought, he let go of the illusion. Deep into the kiss, Chloe's eyes were shut and she did not notice.

Kaaldar sucked deeply of her lovely receptive lips. Taking a moment for a deep breath, Chloe caressed his pointy ear. ''Much better than a pinch,'', Kaaldar noted, approvingly.

''Yes,'' and she kissed him, not minding the blueness of those lips at all.

''This could get to be habit forming,'' Chloe acknowledged.

''I hope it does,'' Kaaldar smiled.

''Let's make sure it does . . .'', Chloe urged.

They returned to the happy art of kissing. Some moments later, a gruff human voice shot like a cannon through their bliss, ''Get a room, ya damn pervs!''

''Huh?'', a dazed Chloe answered. ''Ah, people!,'' a mildly irritated Kaaldar exclaimed. ''Ugh, HU-mans!''Chloe declared.

''Well, maybe a room might not be such a bad idea. The grass is going to get cold and damp after a while . . .'' Kaaldar suggested.

''Where shall we go?'' Chloe innocently wondered.

''I could sneak you into Neriak. Mind, you can't wander about without invisibility, but you'd be safe in my room . .'' Kaaldar suggested, with more than a hint of a smile about having a 'whitey' holed up in his room.

''That could be exciting. I can't even imagine what your city looks like,'' Chloe replied, secretly thrilled at such a dangerous preposal.

With that, they shook the grass off of them, de-wrinkled their robes as best possible, and headed for the trail that led to the Nektulos forest.

Before entering the strangely dark forest, Kaaldar made Chloe invisable and off they went. It wasn't too long before they passed over a stone bridge. Chloe was surprised to see whities in this forest, but then, the two invaders were busy in the act of killing an unfortunate guard.

In response to her unspoken wonder, Kaaldar explained ''That's the suicide post. Any guard who gets that assignment knows he's pissed somebody off royally.''

He continued, ''Let's move on, however . . .''

Through the inky blackness, they moved. ''Man, is it ever DARK in here,' Chloe whispered.

''It isn't so bad for us inkies, we DO have extremely good vision,''smiled

''Well, guide me, oh great-visioned one,'' Chloe said, smiling, in a smile only Kaaldar could see, having put the 'See Invisable' spell on himself.

They traversed a fair distance until they reached a mouth-like entrance. An odd logo was at the top center, almost face-like, with two pointy appendages. ''Oh, the EARS, dark ears. Hmmmm,'' Chloe noticed.

At this point her stomach gave a leap. She was supremely grateful the stern faced guards did not know she was passing by them.

She'd never imagined such a twisty lay-out of a city could be possible, so many iron gates and, um, more of those stern guards, LOTS more.

Butterflies, tiny sickly little butterflies quivered weakly in that stomach of hers. Still, it WAS richly exciting to be in a place few High Elves ever get to see, and for that, she considered herself lucky.

Actually, it wasn't an ugly city, just complicated. The colorful neon glowing designs that floated mid-air and on walls were fascinating.

By this time, they'd made the way to the 'barracks', rows of small rooms in which the residents lived. Small neon decorations were artfully placed on these walls as well. ''City of forever night,'' Chloe thought.

Still, Kaaldar's room was nice enough, and well lit enough. It was only at this point she could get a look at Kaaldar's handsome face. One particular feature arrested her in mid-search. ''Red eyes! You have RED eyes!'' she uttered in amazement.

Kaaldar just laughed.
