"Scarab - Line Drawing"
3:31pm

The Friday Illustration theme this week is "Wings". I thought maybe I'd do a new drawing for it. Then I realized I have the winged scarab I drew back in 2011:

So I submitted that drawing to the theme. Meanwhile, I was still feeling inspired for a scarab. The winged scarab on a sarcophagus now at the Turin museum was calling to me. (Another Flicker photographer has a view of it more in context.)

So I used that scarab as the basis for the drawing. I got a little improvisational with it. I want to color it, but before I do, I scanned the line drawing.
