"During the Ramesside Period busts of family ancestors were set into niches in the walls of houses of the village of Deir el Medina, or placed in tombs in the cemeteries there. This example is unusual because of its large size, well carved facial features and elaborate painted decoration, which is exceptionally well preserved."
