Something Different About That Girl

Earlier that day, Chloe had quite an adventure in these new strange lands. She was rather young to make the journey to a new continent, that is YOUNG in terms of magical skills. She'd only achieved level four and the spells that go with that level. Trouble is, many of the unfriendly denizens of the Commonlands were much higher than level four spells would take care of.

Thus it was, while coming down the path towards the auctioning area, an olive green centurian surprised her with an ambush. She'd seen blue orcs in the Faydwer, but not green ones. ''How many colors do these things come in?'', she wondered. His short stubby arm, wielding a crudely fashioned hatchet, crossed with her delicate flesh.

Anger filled her, and she took her slender dagger and tried to ram it deep between its ribs. Over and over, she tried. She made some pointy contact with it, and her 'burn' spell did a little more damage as the flames surrounded the green beastie. Her pet, an earth elemental, brought it down further, until it succumbed to the blows of that hatchet. Chloe and the orc were running evenly, until she had a few too many fizzled spells. ''You're lower than a Goblin's asshole!'' she cursed the beast furiously.

Kaaldar happened to be walking nearby, during the cursing and took in the details of the scene. As her health ebbed to dangerous levels, he threw off a couple of ''Chaotic Feedback'' spells, and finished the creature off.

The last thing Chloe saw before falling into a faint was a blue-white arc coming forth from Kaaldar's dark blue hand and reaching to the monster.

Kaaldar's thoughts, as he bandaged her wounds were ''Yeah, she's a pasty high elf, but she doesn't seem as wimpy as they usually do. She's got a fire to her. I can sense that. I like her.''

After he bandaged her as much as he could, she was able to go to a nearby inn, where guards patrolled the area, and rest up the rest of the way.

As the afternoon hours turned into evening, Kaaldar found himself still thinking about the girl, and wondered if she was still around. Travelling invisibly, he wandered around the safer areas of the Commonlands until he saw her sitting with a sizable group of people.

They were all paying rapt attention to a bard, who was entertaining them with a lively song. It had a good rhythm, and he tarried long enough to hear the song through.

He watched the High Elf magician's face as she listened to the song. Bright eyes and a lively smile, she did look like fun.

''There she is in the moonlight, her pale skin contrasting sharply against the darkness. DELICIOUS! I COULD EAT HER!''

''But will she like me? She's been taught to fear Inkies.''

''I must find out, at least more about her.

I hate to use an illusion, I hate to, it makes my skin itch. It's certainly not for lack of Dark Pride, but, really, I'll not get a foot next to her unless....''

So he went off aways, where he would not be seen and with a great extravagant flourish, Kaaldar changed form, suddenly now a tall, fair High Elf.

Returning to the group, he tip toed near her and sat down beside her.

''Here goes...'', though Kaaldar . He never was especially timid, for such a characteristic would get one laughed out of Neriak. Timid people learn to be quiet about their insecurities. Still he possessed some caution, as Kaaldar took a deep breath and approached the lady:

''Nice night, ain't it?'', he ventured.
