Preghiera al Genio Pubblico

Questo rito d'offerta al Genio Pubblico deve essere effettuato
il giorno del sua festa, VII.ID.OCT (9 October)**, ma può essere usato
in qualsiasi momento ci è una necessità di invocare
e sacrificare al Genio Pubblico.

Ciò dovrebbe essere effettuata subito dopo che invochiate Ianus.
In seguito potete continuare con le vostre preghiere usuali
ai dii della famiglia.

A prayer to the Genius Publicus

This offering rite to Genius Publicus is to be performed
on his festival, VII.ID.OCT (9 October)**, but may be used
anytime there is a need to invoke and sacrifice
to the Genius Publicus.

This should be performed right after you invoke Ianus.
Afterwards you can continue with your usual prayers
to the household Gods.

{Il adorator si gira nel nord, con la testa velata,
e prende la posizione con i bracci alzati,
nella figura della lettera Y, e dice queste parole:
{The supplicant faces North, assuming the "Y" posture, being
capite velato*, and recites these words:}

SALVE GENI PVBLICE POPVLI ROMANI QVIRITIVMQVE
Salve Genio Pubblico del Popolo Romano dei Quiriti!
Hail, O Genius Publicus of the Roman People and Quirites!

{Il adoratore fa il Adoratio, poi continua:}

PRECOR QVAESOQVE
Ti venero e ti prego affinché
I pray and beseech Thee in order that

VT SIS PROPITIVS POPVLO ROMANO
sii propizio alla gente romana,
Thou mayest be propitious to the Roman People,

CVRIAE ROMANAE CONDITAE IANE
alla Curia Romana fondata in Giano
to the Roman Curia founded in Janus

AC SVB TVTELA IOVIS,
e sotto la tutela di Giove,
and under the protection of Jove,

HIC ET NVNCT VBICVMQVE ET SEMPER.
Tutta ora ovunque e sempre.
at all times, everywhere, and always.

TIBI OFFERO HOC THVS:
Ti offero questo incenso:
I offer Thee this incense:

{Il adoratore subito offra una piccola quantità
nel incenso alla fiamma poi dice queste parole:}
{The supplicant now offers a few grains of incense
upon the fire, then says these words:}

ITA VIS, ITA EST!
Così vuoi, così è !
As Thou willest, so mote it be!
