"Music Feeds the Soul"

     Ink pen and colored pencil on acid free paper, 17.8 x 25.3 cm (7 x 10 in.),
     Spiral rings removed after the scan, and neatened up a bit digitally:
I was quite amused with the depiction of Amen-Nestawy-Nakht's ba in henu pose. This detail of his 22nd Dynasty mummy case was photographed by Anneke Bart and is at the St Louis museum.


The jubilation pose is called 'henu'

I also used the hand details from the soul of Nekhen at the Met Museum to better clarify.

As I drew this, I couldn't help think that the flower offering for Amen-Nestawy-Nakht looked a bit like the old phonograph players, with their flower-like horns. Furthermore, to me the 'henu' pose of rejoicing has always looks a bit like dancing. Perhaps this gesture was used in religious dancing, for celebrations and the like.

Here the henu looks a bit like 'air guitar', :)!
