Digging for Truth

If one piece of fragmented wisdom
comes to light,
and is added to the larger whole,
Then piece by piece,
peace by piece,
Understanding grows.

"Juicy Moon"
9:27pm

Juicy fat orange moon
hangs low in the lapis sky,
makes my mouth water.

JAL, 7-22-13

As we exited the library tonight, the moon looked like a freshly peeled orange, and I wanted to take a bite!

"Cozy Helix"
6:37pm

I went to bed relatively early, but found myself restless. I decided to siphon off some of that restless mental energy into an intuitive drawing:

Colored pencil and pen on 8.5 x 11 inch sketching paper

I finished my drawing, and went back to bed, going to sleep easily.

I had a little surprise when I got up in the morning and saw this morning's Google doodle:

There's a HELIX in this morning's doodle dedicated to Rosalind Franklin. Photograph: Screen grab

"The latest Google doodle celebrates the life and work of British biophysicist and x-ray crystallographer Rosalind Franklin, whose research led to the discovery of the structure of DNA. Franklin was born in Notting Hill, London on 25 July 1920.

"The second "o" in the doodle contains her image, while the "l" has been replaced with the DNA double helix.

"Franklin also made critical contributions to our understanding of the molecular structures of RNA, viruses, coal and graphite.

"She died from ovarian cancer in April 1958, aged just 37."
(Text from Guardian news story, my own screen grab.)

The synchronicities don't stop there. Franklin was born on July 25th, the day my father was born. Franklin died in 1958, the year I was born!
