"Kharushery's Mummy Case"
5:37am
I'm still going through the Met museum photos. With a bit of salvage, I can rescue most of the photos of Kharushery's mummy case. For instance, this mess became this:
|
The Outer Coffin of Kharushery Third Intermediate Period, Dynasty 22, (ca. 945-712 B.C.E.) Thebes, Sheikh Abd el-Qurna Wood, paint, l. 211 cm (83 1/16 in) Excavated by G. Maspero, 1885;purchased from the Government of Egypt, 1886 Funds from various donors, 1886 (86.1.31) Kharushere held the office of Doorkeeper of the House of Amun. His parents were the Doorkeeper of the House of Amun, Bes, and the Mistress of the House, Chantress of Amun, Tanetheretib. (See Museum website)
Rather fuzzy, but gives general idea...
There is also an innermost case, but I fouled my photo of it irredeemably! |
