"Hanging Dangerously/Rising Again"
11:20am

Original is 12"x11", 'Sharpie' fine point on Strathmore bristol board

Today's intuitive drawing was no doubt influenced by the passages Julia was reading to me. E.O. Wilson paints a rather bleak forecast for our fragile plant in _The Diversity of Life_:

"The sixth great extinction spasm of geological time is upon us, grace of mankind. Earth has at last acquired a force that can break the crucible of biodiversity." -page 343

"The raging monster upon the land is population growth. In its presence, sustainability is but a fragile theoretical construct." page 328

Of course I fear for the future. I know the small remnant that will survive the horrible devastations to come will hold us accountable. I almost hear them asking us, "Why did we not do more and do it sooner?" But I have this much faith, a burning hope that with Will I direct to the future, that there will be survivors. It is such directed Will, coming from all those who have vision, that will enable that remnant. For without it, nothing will survive our stupidity, not even us.
