"Rainbow Sighting!"
6:55am

Right out our living room door!

I couldn't capture the entire arc with one photo!

Early thunder and lightning gave hope that we'd have some rain. We got a few precious drops, but we got something even more rare! I thank Julia who reminded me of this possibility, or we would have missed it.

"Man Vs Alien"
6:52am

I think this intuitive drawing might have been influenced by watching "Man Vs Food".
(That is a disgusting show in which this man stuffs himself with huge piles of mostly gross food. I don't predict a long life for him, but I hope I'm wrong.)

Original is 'Sharpie' fine point marker on 14"x15" Strathmore drawing paper.
I'm amused by Wikipedia: "Players soon discover that best play from both parties leads to a draw. Hence, tic-tac-toe is most often played by young children."
The man here is not too smart!

"Strange Day"
9:30pm

What a strange day! At work, a slow day got interrupted around 2:30pm, when the radio fell silent and the A.C. and fans stilled. I was eating a late lunch and finished my apple in the semi-dark. We were without electricity for a little over a half hour. Fortunately, it didn't get unbearably hot. Although it did for a neighboring business with two walls all windows. They locked up shop just before the power returned.

Later when I got home, I learned our little mall strip was not alone, for 6700 electric customers were also effected, due to a tripped circuit.

The strangeness continued. This evening, we were a little late making our trip to the library. The skies were ominously dark gray to the north, so we parked closer to the entrance than we normally do. As Julia hunted her books, I took my usual chair and read a magazine. Every little bit, I paused to look out the large windows and see lightning. The winds grew fierce, and the young trees were bending over, as their leaves were being torn.

Julia had almost finished, but just before she could check out her books, the power went out! We decided to wait, in hopes the power would return, as the emergency back-up is not sufficient to run their computers.

What a dramatic view of the storm we had at the library, seeing the huge light flashes through the library windows. We waited about a half hour, while the storm lessened its intensity. But the power did not return. So Julia left the books behind.

On our way home, I saw some small trees had been uprooted. Much of the apartment parking lot is under water. I took my shoes off and waded through it to get in where it's dry.

At least we have electricity at home. But it's best to send this off before we lose it!
