In contrast to the last two, this one is from the Metropolitan Museum, (from my 2009 visit). It also has a much more elaborate frame. Does the frame distract from the painting? Or does its swirls nicely echo the swirls in the carpet? I wasn't able to find more about it than what the info card gave, so I don't know when this painting was done. I notice the similarity of model pose; each lady is propping her head up with her hand. The next painting is a still life, but features statuary in it. The statue to the left features a lady resting her arm on her arms and hands, and could be one Matisse made. This might be a comfortable pose for the model, as well as giving the painting or sculpture a relaxed feel. |

"Inspired to Draw"
8:08pm
I had Julia rest her head on her hand like Matisse's models did, while she watched the news on TV.
"Inspired to Draw II"
4:38am
Seeking there some perfect abstraction, refined by observation, the inner intuitive world breaking forth elegantly. Always balanced, but always hinting at what goes further...
"Staring Her Food Down..."
4:52pm
Recently I ate some high fiber breakfast cereal, I heard from it loudly all day long,
perhaps she's looking at the cereal and wondering what it will do to her.
I would like to attempt this in colored pencil, but original wasn't centered right on the paper,
and I can't seem to draw it over decently...
Maybe I will do better another day...
"The Street and the Street Reflected"
6:48am

"The Street" view from steps of Chicago's Art Institute
In 1955, Adams and Michigan became the westbound Route 66,
(Eastbound was one block south on Jackson, going to Lake Shore Drive, )

"Discussion"
2:33am
Seeking a way to bound an intuitive drawing more to the paper's center, I sketched in a bounding box before I began:
It became part of the picture itself.
Original is 12"x14", 'Sharpie' fine point on Strathmore drawing paper
