"Lots in the Viewfinder"
6:19pm

"So what I'm craving is beautiful things in my view finder." I said that recently. Oh, I found a lot of beautiful things in the view finder, and we didn't travel far, only to the Yuma Garden Cafe and neighboring historical museum.

But first I took time to sketch Julia for the Friday Illo theme of Tea. It was a natural, for she wanted more time to finish her tea before we went out.

Her left arm is kind of foreshortened, but it doesn't show quite right. Someday, I hope to turn this pose into a formal portrait.

This is a 'signature' pose of Julia, for she loves to sit and drink tea while being contemplative. Do we drink a lot of tea? I should say so! We have THREE whole shelves devoted to tea!

By the time she finished her noon tea, I finished my picture and we headed to the Garden Cafe. The weather was perfect for this outdoor cafe. Julia had some bean soup, and I got an open faced barbecued tri-tip sandwich. I enjoyed the birds which were next to us. We'd dined at this cafe before, but I never knew the surrounding area is full of gardens and birds. And yes, I had my camera with me:

Birds, Birds, Birds!
Or as Julia said, "Cheep thrills!"

A beautiful peacock...

Another view, so you can see his crown better...

A pair of loving birds...

A colorful parrot...

The area surrounding the historical museum...

Julia is looking at some of the birds...

I took so many pictures, I can't share them all today without massive overload. So I will save those for another day. But I will include this one I took in the restroom of Picaflor. I'm impressed with the cool fish in its washbowl. Picaflor is in an adobe house which used to belong to one of Yuma's pioneer families.

Yes, that's me in the reflection...
