"The seventh ruler of Dynasty 18, Amenhotep II is best known as a warrior and an athlete. He appears here, identifed by the inscription on his belt, in a worshipful pose, kneeling and holding a round offering jar in each hand. Appeasing the gods was one of the king's primary obligations. Doubtless this statue once stood in a temple, offering to the gods in perpetuity." (From the info card)
